Non-religious funerals
This page is the 'summary page' for planning non-religious funerals:
there are buttons below for each specific aspect of the ceremony.
As you browse through each section,
remember that if the ceremony is taking place at a crematorium,
we have a fixed amount of time available to us, and this may affect your choice.
Whilst the ceremony has a basic structure, as outlined in 'First Steps',
the ceremony itself can take any form you choose.
There will usually be a tribute / eulogy, sometimes more than one,
alongside which music and poetry - and sometimes silence - play a large part in the ceremony.
Music, and the choices available, are not listed on this page -
that is such a wide area with so many choices, too big for this website,
so I will talk to you about that during my visit.
Whilst the ceremony won't observe the rites of any organised religions,
some people may want to acknowledge some type of belief,
perhaps by reciting a relevant prayer (i.e. the Lord's Prayer) at some point,
or listening to a hymn/worship song;
that's entirely your choice, and something we can talk about during my visit.
On some of the pages in this section, there is a lot of choice, especially poems;
give yourself plenty of time to browse through these,
and time to think about which words might be best.
